Personality Tests
Everyone knows that the world is full of many different personalities. It’s what makes life so interesting and challenging. However, many people feel they don’t know who they really are. Understanding yourself can help you to interact better with others. Also, by knowing what your strengths and vulnerabilities are you have the possibility to improve your weak areas to help you get the most out of life. That can be in your career or personal relationships or anything else that will ultimately lead to you being a happier person!
Be what you are. This is the first step toward becoming better than you are. ~Julius Charles Hare
One way of trying to getting to know yourself better is by completing some of the many Personality Tests that are easily available on the net. Obviously some are more credible than others and depending on your viewpoint, there many interesting tests with compelling results.
I think it can be useful to do these tests sometimes. They can give you a bit more insight into your personality. However, I also believe it is important to be cautious when doing them. I have completed what I consider to be frivolous tests, such as the Color Quiz. I completed this particular test twice and received very different results both times. One time the results were extremely negative and I believe that if I had been feeling insecure and looking to find a way of improving myself I would have potentially been very deflated and possibly upset by what it told me. However, as I had considered the test itself to have very frivolous, I did not pay much attention to the result, whether it was positive or negative.
I also took the RHETI test, which I consider to be more accurate. I only took the free sample test, which gave me the information I was looking for. It identifies 9 personality types and although I took the test twice and received subtly different results both times, I still felt the results were much more accurate than the Color Quiz test. The results gave me a score for each personality type and I had similar low and high scores both times I took the test. What I particularly like about this test is that the descriptions for each personality type are very in-depth and very logical. They give a rounded personality description. Having said that, I believe you should be very wary when doing this kind of thing over the Internet without human interaction. I believe the best way to interpret any results is to consider what seems right to you as you read the results. Have others described you like that before? Does it strike a chord with you? Is some of it definitely wrong?
So once I received the results from the more credible RHETI test that I believed in, and filtered them according to what I believe was accurate, I felt very good about myself. It was like getting honest feedback from a good friend and it gave me an anchor to move forward from. Although I didn’t take it very seriously, I also enjoyed the Color Quiz test, apart from the negative feedback, which I just ignored!
Have fun finding out who you are!
